My Style

my style can be described as pretty basic.  the colors I gravitate towards are your typical basic colors:  black, gray and white.  I do have some color and prints in my closet but I love wearing basic pieces and popping them with a bold accessories.  I also love being comfortable but still looking stylish.  I recently received a few pieces from Agnes & Dora and they are just that:  Stylish and comfortable!  if this checks off those boxes for you, then you should check them out.

“Agnes & Dora is a lifestyle clothing brand focused on effortless style and comfortable, high-quality clothes. Founded by Buffy Bandley, Agnes & Dora is dedicated to empowering women to take joy in their femininity and be true to their authentic selves”.

I loved everything that I received from Agnes & Dora and have worn them all several times already!  My favorite is definitely the black sheer dress.  I feel extra sassy when I wear it;)

Smiling Fearlessly with my cariPRO Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush

I am straight up obsessed with my smile.  I brush and floss religiously and encourage anyone around me to do the same.   This might sound crazy, but I love going to the dentist!  There’s nothing much better than having freshly cleaned teeth.

The last several years, I have been using cheap battery operated toothbrushes from the drugstore.  They worked ok but I really wanted to invest in something that really cleaned my teeth and offered different brushing modes.

About a year and a half ago, I worked with a company called Smile Brilliant.  They have an amazing teeth whitening system that did wonders for my not-so-white teeth.  I knew I already loved this company and their products so when they contacted me about their newest addition, the cariPRO Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush, I jumped at the offer! You might think I’m crazy, but I was so excited to get this toothbrush and try it out!  Keep reading to find out how to win one of your very own:)

I received the Individual package which contains:  1 cariPRO Ultrasonic toothbrush, 2 premium replacement heads with tongue scraper and 1 wireless charging dock.  There’s also a Deluxe package and a Couples package…so there’s pretty much an option for everyone.

Let me tell you, this electric toothbrush is amazing!  I did have to get used to it at first, though.  Since I hadn’t used a toothbrush quite like this before, I had to get used to the vibrations it produced.  It almost felt like it was tickling my mouth;)  After using it a couple of times, the tickling feeling went away.  What I love the most about this toothbrush is that it has 5 different brushing modes:  Clean (my favorite), White, Massage, Gum Care and Sensitive and also has a timer for even and timed brushing intervals.  Honestly, me, who loves brushing and flossing, wasn’t brushing long enough.  I like that this toothbrush alerts me when it’s time to move to a different area of my mouth and when to actually stop brushing.  The cariPRO Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush is also waterproof, perfect for those who love to brush in the shower, and comes with a wireless charging dock.  When this toothbrush is fully charged, it has a 30 day battery life.  Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?  This may sound crazy, but this electric toothbrush deep cleans so good I almost don’t feel the need to always floss my teeth.  Not to worry,  I’m still flossing every day;)

I have done my research on several different electric toothbrush options and the cariPro Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush is one of the most affordable options out there especially considering everything it does.  If you have been thinking about tossing out that manual or battery operated toothbrush like I did ( I will never go back to those!) then you might want to give this one a try.  I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Now for the most exciting news!  Smile Brilliant is generous enough to give away a cariPRO Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush to one of you!  Isn’t that awesome?!?  Just click the link below to enter!

Use my code: angbruening20  to save 20% off cariPRO Ultrasonic electric toothbrushes.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

My Micro-blading Experience

Hello friends! I wanted to hop on here real quick and talk to you about my micro-blading experience. I’ve had a lot of questions lately and I wanted to try to answer them and show you before and after pictures from my procedure.

You may remember last summer, I started getting my eye lashes lifted. You can read about that here. Well at my last eyelash lift appointment, which was in December, I started talking to the gal working on my lashes about her thoughts on micro-blading. She told me how great it is and that is was a pretty easy procedure. I had been contemplating this for a while and decided to go in for a consultation. Keep in mind, since this procedure has gained major popularity, it was not easy to get an appointment. The location where I get my lashes lifted was booked out until May and I didn’t want to wait that long. I decided to take an appointment at their second location since they could get me in earlier. On December 31, 2018 I had my consultation with a micro-blading expert and she answered all the questions I had about the procedure. On February 5th, I got my eyebrows micro-bladed. She first mapped out my eyebrow shape. This part takes the longest. After the mapping was perfect, she put a numbing cream on my brows for about 20 minutes.

After my eyebrows were relatively numb, she got to work. Now I will tell you: I barely felt her microblading. There was a tiny bit of discomfort, but nothing I couldn’t handle. The worst part was the sound it makes. It sounds like a crunching noise. Like I said, it takes a good two hours to get this done. And believe me, you want them to take their time and not feel rushed. I was pretty swollen when she was finished, but I wasn’t in any pain. The swelling went down later that same day. I think the hardest part of this whole procedure was the after care. No exercise for 3-4 days (no problem there 😉). Avoid getting them wet for 2 weeks. That was hard! Let’s just say, the hubs got really good at washing my hair in the kitchen sink ☺️

Take a look at my before and after photos.

I love how they turned out! Micro-blading is meant to be very natural in appearance. Meaning, you may have to fill in your brows a bit if you want them to look a bit more dense, if that makes sense…

After your initial visit for your procedure, you come back for a touch up. Usually after 4 weeks. I got my touch up on March 5th. At this appointment, she filled my brows in a little more and went a little bolder with the color she used. She said I should be good to go for 8-10 months before getting any more touch ups. Most people think this is like getting a tattoo and it really isn’t. This is a temporary application and how long it lasts depends on skin type, medications, sun exposure, etc.

Here is a pic I took today almost two weeks after getting my touch up. Please excuse my appearance 😉

I think they look great with or without filling them in! Here is the pencil I use when I do fill them in.

If you are on the fence about getting this done, you should definitely go in for a consultation and ask questions. If you are local to my area, I suggest going to the place where I got my micro-blading done. Check out their website here.

Thank you all for reading and if you have any other questions about my micro-blading experience, please email me, dm me on IG or leave your question in the comments below.

What I’m Loving | Accessories

Hello! It’s been a while. Two months to be exact since I’ve written my last blog post. I thought I would jump on here and share with you all the accessories I have been loving and wear daily. Some are old favorites and some are recent purchases.

I am usually pretty basic with my clothing but definitely like to add great accessories to spice things up a bit. Initial necklaces have been popular for a while and lately everyone is wearing initial jewelry in some fashion. I love initial necklaces and wear them alone or layered. My new favorite style is the bamboo initial.

Coin necklaces are also great wore alone or layered. Actually, I love layering coins and initials :).

I recently purchased a cowrie shell choker and I have been wearing it non-stop the past few weeks since I received it. Shell accessories are on trend for spring and summer and here’s what you need to remember: if you jump on this trend, find fashion pieces adorned with a gold finish or mixed with other textures such as rattan or wicker. This will keep you from looking like you got your accessories from a tourist shop on vacation;).

Statement earrings are my jam lately and the bigger the better. There’s nothing better than wearing your hair pulled back with a hat on while also wearing a great pair of bold earrings. I bought these tassel earrings last summer and wore them all thru the fall and winter. You will definitely be seeing me wear them all spring and summer too!

Sometimes I like to wear a pair of simple hoops. They are a classic, for sure. I found this triangle style recently and love them!

Until recently, I have worn my Apple Watch with the same band it came with. I am finding that there are some really cute band styles out right now! The two-toned watch band looks really good when I stack it with bracelets…and it was very affordable!

I just purchased the gray/leopard style band yesterday and I can’t wait to wear it!

Lastly, my absolute favorite accessories are my David Yurman bracelets. I have been collecting these over the past few years and I wear them every single day. They are definitely a splurge, but they are worth it to me.

Thank you to all that read my posts and I hope you enjoyed this one! I’ll try not to wait two more months before I write another one 😉

2018 | A Look Back..

I cannot believe it’s almost 2019! This past year has been a whirlwind for the Bruening’s. In case you missed it, we built a new house (I say this because it’s all I’ve talked about for the last year;). It was one of the most time consuming, stressful things we have ever done but also one of the best things we have ever accomplished. It’s not 100% finished but will be in the coming months.

We also took a kick ass vacation to the Pacific Northwest. This included a road trip from Seattle to the Gorge in Washington to see Dead and Company perform and on to Eugene, Oregon to see Dead and Company again and finally driving down the coast of California to do some sightseeing in San Francisco.

One of the biggest events for us in 2018 was our son graduated from college! We are so proud of him on this major accomplishment in his life.

I’m not going to lie, 2018 was not all rainbows and butterflies. I still struggle regularly with anxiety. I have learned that it is perfectly normal to have anxiety and it’s not a sign of weakness. I am dealing with it in my own way and not medicating. My work life was a struggle for me this year and i can’t quite figure out why. I’m hoping 2019 will be better in this department. I learned that loyalty, whether it be in the workplace or in friendships doesn’t mean as much anymore, but playing the game does. I don’t play games. I thought I could, but I cannot. That will definitely change things going forward.

We are really excited for 2019! The hubs and I have a little getaway planned for late January. We will be traveling Indiana to see Dead and Company this summer and hopefully since the house is pretty much complete, we will get to take the boat out and spent a little time on the lake. I really missed that last summer. Who knows what else the Bruening’s will be doing in 2019. Stay tuned!

Happy New Year!
