Summer Love

hello friends!  I can’t believe that summer is almost over.  this year has really flown by so far. the hubs and I have been busy with the new house and work the last few months, but managed to fit in a little vacay to the pacific northwest.  it was amazing to say the least and was the perfect getaway;).  I wanted to get on here and talk about a few of the things I have loved the past few months.  a couple of them are pretty new, but I already know they are going to be favorites.

Teleties literally the best pony tail holder I have ever used!  they stay put, don’t give you a headache and they don’t leave crinkles or dents in your hair when you take them out.  they even look cute stacked as bracelets.

I collect tons of sunglasses, but these three pair I have been wearing non stop since getting them.  I love this style by Quay Australia.  i’m a big fan of aviators and I like how these don’t overpower my face with their size.  I recently purchased this pair of sunglasses by Diff Eyewear from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  I didn’t have anything like them in my collection and since they were on sale, I decided to give them a try. so far, I love them and I love that Diff Eyewear is a company that gives back.  you can read about their mission here.  who doesn’t love Ray Ban?  I have been wanting this style since last summer.  when I saw we got them where I work, I bought them immediately!  ray bans are classic and never go out of style.

I love me a good lipstick.  I picked up this Charlotte Tilbury lipstick set at the nsale and it didn’t disappoint!  It came with a lip liner and two lipsticks.  I love the colors and the formula of both.  one shade is more of a matte finish while the other is more satiny.  if you haven’t tried this brand you definitely should!

I have been obsessed with statement earrings this summer.  I have picked up quite a few pairs but these are my favorites right now.  I get most of my earrings from target.  I love all of the Sugarfix by Baublebar that they sell there.  both of the floral styles are from that line.  check them out here and here.  these styles are super affordable too!  I had seen someone on IG wearing these tassel earrings and I thought they were so cute and would be perfect for summer.  a month or two ago, I happened to see the at nordstom and picked them up.  they go with everything and I plan on wearing them thru what’s left of summer and all thru fall.

t shirts and hats are staples in my closet.  I love these styles by Arch Apparel.  I actually live in Illinois but I am close enough to St Louis so I feel like I can rep this brand;)  the camo hat is my fav right now, btw:)

what have been your summer favorites?

thanks for stopping by!

Trying Something New..

you guys know i’m obsessed with everything makeup, beauty, fashion…and my hair.  let’s talk about just that for a second.  my hair has been thru a lot over the years.  its been bleached, highlighted, cut into a pixie style and has grown down my back.  its been purple, red, blond, black and every color in between.  I’m also an avid user of a straightener and curling iron. combine all of that with living in the midwest (hot and humid summers and cold dry winters) and you will know what my locks have endured.   my hair has always been fine and as I am getting older, it has thinned out quite a bit.  all of these things I do to my hair combined with the texture of my hair and the environment I live in,  finding the perfect shampoo and conditioner to help can be a challenge.  I have used tons of drug store and salon brands never quite finding the perfect combo for my hair.  when I was approached by Formulate, I must say I was intrigued.  they claim to have “Shampoo and conditioner perfectly engineered just for you.  Formulated based on your characteristics, goals, lifestyle and environment”.  Doesn’t that sound awesome?   admit it. you’re also curious.   This brand launches today and I cannot wait to try it!  make sure to follow along with me on my blog and instagram and see how its working for me.  If you want to learn more about this company and brand check them out here.

I Got A Lash Lift!

if you have been following me for a while, you will know that I am straight up obsessed with my eyelashes.  for the last two-ish years, I have been applying strip lashes religiously.  like everyday.  it’s not exactly a cheap habit to have but I did it anyway.  a few weeks ago, I decided no more false eyelashes.  i’m actually trying to tone down my whole makeup routine and take a more natural approach.  by natural I mean not wearing a ton of makeup in general.  no more full coverage foundation.  no more contouring.  plus, it’s like 100 degrees where I live.  who wants to wear heavy makeup everyday?  with all this being said, I still needed my eyelashes to look good.  I wasn’t used  to seeing my mediocre real lashes.  no matter how much eye lash primer and mascara I piled on, they didn’t look good.  I knew that I didn’t want to get eye lash extensions.  I haven’t heard the best things about getting that done.  what I did hear was great reviews about getting a lash lift.  a lash lift is basically a “perm for your lashes”.  so after thinking about it, I decided to book my appointment to get my very own lash lift.  my master lash stylist was jessica and she made me feel very comfortable during this process.  she explained the process and told me what she was doing as she was doing it.  we even made small talk which definitely put me at ease.  she also texted me me all the info for lash lift aftercare from her personal number and gave me before and after photos!  she definitely went above and beyond!  here is how a lash lift works.  first of all when you go in to your appointment, you should not be wearing any eye makeup at all.  she taped down my lower lashes so they would be out of the way of the lift.  while my eyes were closed, she placed a piece of tape on my eyelid.  a rod was placed above my lashes.  she then applied the keratin treatment on my lashes so they bent over the rod.  I believe she left it on for around 5 minutes.  after that, a different serum was applied to set the lashes.  that stayed on for 4 minutes.  finally she applied a lash tint which will last 2-4 weeks.  the last lift will last 6-8 weeks.  it was a very simple process.  I am very happy with my results and you better believe I will be going back in 6 weeks to get them refreshed!

Before my appointment.

Feeling Tropical..

Hat {similar}|Earrings {here}|Tee {mine is sold out but here is a cute option}|Jeans {similar}|Bag {here} Shoes {here}

since tropical prints are so popular right  I thought I would share this outfit with you since its one of my favorites.  It’s so versatile, I can wear this to work or out on a date with the hubs.  the bright colors of the tee really pop against the bright white jeans. (I have had these jeans for a year and i’m surprised they are still so white;).  when wearing a bolder print, I like to keep everything else pretty basic.  the bamboo bag and straw hat really just complete this look, I think.  I kept it pretty simple with my shoes as well…although a pair of nude wedges would also look pretty great with this look.

A Few Of My Favorite Things..

hello friends!  I am sharing a few products, etc that I have been using/wearing non stop the last month or two.  let me know what your must have products have been lately by leaving a comment below or on my latest IG post.

I have fine, thin hair and I only used to brush thru it with a comb.  I bought a wet brush several months ago and haven’t used that comb since.  this brush is great for any hair type and I love that you can use it on wet or dry hair.

I am an eye shadow palette junkie. my favorites though are affordable palettes that have great pay off.  this eye shadow palette by colourpop is exactly that.  I have been reaching for this one just about every day.

this backpack is truly meant to be a diaper bag but it’s great for anyone actually.  to me it really doesn’t even look like a diaper bag.  it has tons of pockets, inside and out, and can be worn as a cross body or a backpack. it comes in 4 colors, but gray was my favorite.  I love how it looks with the gold hardware!

yet another eye shadow palette I can’t live without;)  what can I say…this palette is great for day to night with 14 beautiful, highly pigmented, wearable shades.

haircare if very important to me.  I have tried a million and one things to make my hair healthy and hydrated.  like I said before, my hair is thin, fine and I have very dry ends.  I love using a curling iron regularly and that doesn’t help with my dry damaged ends.  what does help with that is this deep conditioning mask.  I wash my hair 2-3 times per week and use this mask every time I wash.  it really does help condition my dry ends and make them feel hydrated and smooth.

I love a glowy blush and this one is now one of my favorites.  it’s a gold-ish, peachy shade with a hint of sheen.  it will be my go-to shade for summer.

this baked blush has been another favorite recently.  it’s is formulated with anti-aging and antioxidant protection.  this blush also gives a radiant look which I love, especially for summer.

I have been wearing a ton of statement earring lately.  I love all of the cute styles that are out right now.  I have to be careful though.  some of these earrings are heavy and pull down on my ears and really hurt after wearing them for only a few hours.  these leather earrings don’t do that.  they are very lightweight!  they are available in 3 sizes and a few different styles and many different colors.  literally all I have been wearing lately!

Instagram Lately|Kimonos & More..

hey all!  I wanted to pop in and share with you some of my favorite outfits I’ve been wearing lately.  i’m not gonna lie, it’s mostly kimonos, but I do wear other things occasionally;)

I love how flowy and light this top is.  I sized way down in it since it is so oversized.  I also front tuck it to give it a different look.

aa6dd1b0fdda4e07b5a871a7dc2be648a3a93978e2184bc095825dc8f95c7415 when I saw this top while shopping, I knew I needed it in my life.  the colors and pattern completely sold me!  I love how it looks styled with white jeans.  I might also be a tad bit obsessed with statement earrings lately.  let me know in the comments if you you love them too!

I think the reason I love kimonos so much is the fact that they are so easy to style.  they look great with basic tees, graphic tees, tanks and leggings or jeans.  add some fun accessories and your good to go.  I have had this kimono for a few years now but I do have my eye on this one that I will probably order soon;)  these wedges are my new favorites.  I love nude leather/white outsole combo.  I bought these wedges last year and wear them a ton too.

my favorite kind of kimono are styles that are duster length.  I will wear the shorter styles but I would rather they almost skim the floor.  here are similar styles of the  lace and tie dye kimonos that I have.  also, don’t be afraid to mix your prints when you wear kimonos.  I love the look of stripes paired with coordinating florals.  does anyone else love camo right now?  all of a sudden, I want everything in this print!  here is a similar style if want to jump on the bandwagon;)
