can you believe i was 20 years old when i visited the dentist for the first time? well, me either and i am kind of embarrassed to share this information with you! i grew up in a middle income home with only one parent that worked. my two younger brothers and i only went to the doctor, etc when it was absolutely necessary. flash forward to the first time i went to the dentist. i had a ton of cavities and yellow teeth. i got those cavities filled asap and decided to splurge on teeth whitening. i couldn’t believe how much it cost to make my teeth pearly white! (it was well over $300 and i ended up losing those expensive whitening trays in a move!!).
i was excited when i found out about Smile Brilliant. it had been quite a few years since i had whitened my teeth. my love of red wine, tea and coffee hasn’t done my teeth any favors. i also have a job that requires me to talk to people all day (i work in retail). i definitely don’t want my customers first impression of me to be “she has great style but her teeth are so yellow…”. with that being said, i also didn’t want to go back to the dentist, get more trays made and pay a gazillion dollars for them to do it. that’s where Smile Brilliant comes in to play. did you know that professional at home teeth whitening kits are recommended by more dentists than any other procedure in America? they produce their custom-fitted whitening trays right here in the USA (major plus!) for 70% less than your dentist and 3X to 5X faster! here’s how it works: Smile Brilliant sends you a kit with every thing you need to make your molds and to whiten your teeth. believe me when i say this is the easiest thing you will ever do! i have sensitive teeth, so i chose the kit to help with that. i made my molds and sent them off to the lab, postage paid of course;). in less than five days, i had my custom- fitted trays and i was ready to whiten my teeth.
it was easier for me to whiten at night before bedtime, which is recommended. i popped in my trays and finished up any laundry and dishes and then completed my nightly skincare routine.
you can whiten from 45 minutes to 3 hours depending on sensitivity. i chose to whiten an hour at a time. after the hour was up, i brushed my teeth and applied the desensitizing gel for 15 minutes. that’s it! and the results were amazing! even my hubs was surprised at how white my teeth got.
check out my before and after pics.
no more yellow teeth for me! thank you Smile Brilliant for helping me to smile fearlessly.
leave me a comment below if you have had success with an at home teeth whitening system. i would love to hear about your results!

*This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own*
hello friends! it is august 9th and i’m just now getting to post my july favorites. the past few weeks have been busy. i had a couple of work trips that took me out of town. the hubs and i also moved out of the house we have lived in for the past 10 years. we are closing this week and we had to get all of our stuff to our condo and into storage. i’m hoping once the closing is done we can get back to a somewhat normal life. that is until we begin the build on our new home;)
i did manage to have a few favorites in the month of july.
i do love drugstore foundations and this one is good! it claims to be lightweight, long wearing, water resistant and sweat proof. i do agree. it is a medium to full coverage but i think it covers pretty well without having to build it. this is a concealer and foundation all in one, but i still choose to use it just as a foundation.
this mascara is very reminiscent of the ever popular better than sex mascara. the brush is similar, the packaging is similar and i think the formula is similar. i believe it works just as good and it’s a third of the price. if you want to save a few bucks and need a new mascara, get this one!
i love lipstick. it is probably my favorite makeup item. i am also very picky about what lipstick formulas and brands i use. the only thing i had ever tried by Younique was their mascara. it was ok and i wasn’t really wowed by it. i experienced a lot of fallout with this product. i was constantly checking my face for black specks so i stopped using it. fast forward to a few months ago. one of my co workers (hey, taylor!) was raving about how great the splash liquid lipstick was. she wears it everyday. i was skeptical but intrigued so i decided to give it a go. taylor ordered it for me, i tried it and now i’m hooked. i have the color stellar and want to try sensual next. since it’s more of a deep maroon color, i think it would be perfect for fall.
this is my go to lip gloss that i wear over all of my matte liquid lipsticks. it is pink-beige in color and literally matches every lip color i wear. i especially love it over top of the younique lipstick i just mentioned above.
what were you loving in july? let me know in the comments!
thanks for stopping by!
whether it’s a poet, bishop, ruffle or bell, statement sleeves are one of the hottest must have styles right now and i can’t get enough of it! don’t expect this trend to go away any time soon. you will definitely see their presence all throughout the fall season. wearing a statement sleeve is such an easy trend to try and right now you can find them in a variety of fabrics. go for basic black, white or any muted solid color. forget patterns and bold colors and let the sleeves speak for themselves! style your sleeves with a pair of cropped denim and your favorite booties or wedges. since the focus of your outfit is the sleeves, keep other accessories to a minimum. it is also important to wear one trend at a time. avoid wearing a top that is busy. example: crisscross, cold shoulder, bell sleeve with a bold print. pick one trend and wear it.
what is your favorite sleeve style? let me know in the comments.

happy thursday friends! can you believe the year is now half over?!? i have been on vacation since saturday and it’s been the best! there’s something to be said about a staycation. i think it needs to happen more often. we have been busy bees the past few days. the hubs and i officially put our house up for sale and we are getting closer to finalizing the plans for our new home. so exciting!
i had a few things that i loved last month and i want to share them with you.
Ardell Lashes #113 these are my favorite style of lashes. they are wispy but not completely over the top..great for everyday wear.
Benefit Rockateur Blush this is such a pretty, high pigment blush. it is a beautiful rose gold color and gives my cheeks a nice flushed look. it’s the perfect shade for summer!
Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation drugstore foundations are my favorite and i’m always looking for a new one to try. i watched a couple of reviews on this particular foundation on youtube and i knew i had to try it. i love it! it is a matte finish and it really keeps the shininess under control. it also blurs my pores which is a huge win in my book.
Ye Brand Delicate Name Necklace i love finding unique jewelry pieces and this name necklace is definitely that! here’s some info about Ye Brand:
“YÉ BRAND was founded in a tiny NYC bedroom in 2016. As a fairly new brand we hope to grow and improve with time. At the moment I am a one-man show, I do everything to run this company. All the jewelry is handmade by me with care and love.”
i love buying from small businesses and will definitely be making another purchase in the future!
Celestial Choker|Stella & Dot this is a great piece to wear layered with other dainty necklaces. it can be worn as a choker or loose as a delicate necklace.
Covet Pave Initial Necklace|Stella & Dot i had been wanting this necklace as soon as it launched and i finally got it! i love it and wear it almost everyday either alone or layered with other necklaces.
Cable Classics Bracelet with 14k Gold 7mm|David Yurman owning a piece of david yurman jewelry had been on my wish list for quite some time. DY pieces are classic and timeless. i actually bought my second bracelet last month (i got my first bracelet last year). i love how they look worn together. normally, i like to wear an odd number of bracelets (1, 3, 5…you get it;) so i think i need a third very soon:)
have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!
happy sunday friends! i hope you all had a great day celebrating father’s day. the hubs and i had a pretty uneventful day of just hanging out and grocery shopping;)
lately, i have been loving the statement earring trend. have you? i usually just pop in a pair of stud earrings and that’s it. i guess since i have been layering several dainty necklaces, i feel the need for a jewelry item that gives my look a little something extra. you feel me?
just about every boutique and online shop i come across have some really cute styles of statement earrings, but here are a few of my favorites.
i love the look of turquoise. it’s a great summer color. this style gives a basic outfit a little pop of color and they are easy on the ears.
this pair of brass and wood bead earrings are my most worn statement earring. they go with just about every outfit i own. what i love the most? they are super lightweight.
target has been killing it with this collection! this is so much more than just wearing a basic hoop earring. they are very chic and cool and don’t weight down my ear.
this hoop is modern and minimalistic. they are also very lightweight. do you see a pattern here? i love earrings that don’t hurt my ears when i wear them all day.
tassel earrings are a hot trend this season, especially if they are a bold color. if you buy one pair statement earrings this summer, get a pair of tassels!
tips when styling statement earrings:
-when wearing a statement earring, keep necklaces simple. i like to layer several dainty chains together when my earrings are the focus of my outfit.
-try not to exactly match your statement earrings with your necklace. the only time this looks good to me, is when Kendra Scott jewelry is being worn.
-remember, this is a trend. there are a lot of affordable statement earrings out there, you just need to shop around. spend money on the classics like a diamond stud, a pearl earring or a simple pair of gold hoops.
thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
happy tuesday friends! i can’t believe its june already! summer is here and i couldn’t be happier. it means boating, jeep rides on country roads and the sun sticking around past 6pm;) i had some makeup and beauty products that i want to share with you that i loved last month.
i don’t know why i waited so long to get this palette. i have been using it just about everyday since i bought it. this palette contains matte and shimmer shades along with 4 face highlighters. the shadows have great pigment and give the perfect neutral eye look. can you believe it’s is only $14.50?!?
i love essie nail polishes, especially this color. it’s a great neutral that goes with everything and every season.
well, well, well by sally hansen is the first i have bought by this brand. i love the look of white polish on my toenails and again this color pretty much goes with everything so no need to change it out.
i bought this fragrance during the sephora vib sale. i had been wanting to try the brand for a long time and since i could get it at a discount, i decided to go for it. this cologne smells woodsy and reminds me of a beach vacation. it’s the perfect scent for summer.
my love for kat von d lippies is real. i picked up three new colors last month and i cannot stop wearing them. ophelia and ludwig are great neutral colors that compliment a bolder eye look. lovecraft looks great paired with a mauve or plummy eye. since these lip colors have a matte finish, i normally top them with a gloss.
if you are a fan of the butter bronzer (i am!!!) then you will love the butter blushes. they have awesome pigment and smell like coconuts. just like summertime!! the colors are: natural glow, vintage rouge, plum rose and rosy pink, which is my favorite. they are a must have!
what are your favorite makeup or beauty products right now? let me know in the comments so i can try them:)
